The Best Nest part 2

Hi Think ::

Look what I made today.  I felt the need to make something creative last week and forced myself to make it today.  Here is what I used (almost all from Michael's)

Artichoke
Red Mum
nest
plastic eggs (I want to come up with something else to put in there or at least paint them teal blue)
ribbon (mine is all from the ribbon outlet, but you could find good stuff at Michael's too)
brown glass crystals that I bought for 90% off at Target last Christmas (you can't really see them in the photos but there are 3 of them on the bottom.

I drilled a hole in the artichoke and strug the ribbon through it.  I took apart the red mum and strung it through the ribbon then glued the center of it down and the strung the nest through and gave it some hearty glue as well. 
I made a double looped bow with the large black and white ribbon and used a thumb take to stick it to the bottom of the artichoke as well as the little amber colored crystal like things. 

I love how it looks.  Whatcha think?

Take a peek at my Spring Door

It's been awhile since I posted what's on my door. I'm literally running out the door to the school's egg hunt but wanted to post this in case you want to make it.  Super easy.

I got a 6" Grapevine Ball and stuffed it with moss.
Then put in a tiny nest and three eggs inside.
Kind of have to shove them in but they can take it.
Glue what you can in place so it won't blow away.
Hang it by a ribbon.

I'm going to grab some purple ribbon while I'm out. I think I will like it better than the green I've got here. I hung it kind of high so you have to peek in like you would at a real nest. I think it would work inside or on a table. Maybe perched on a bowl or vase? Just a little something different than the standard wreath.

Front Door...Finally

Dearest Pink::

I am finally able to take a breath. So crazy these last few weeks. And you know me....I like to "think" rather than "do" so I am always in a panic when a deadline looms. Thanks for doing all the talking on this blog for the last little while.

So, my front door decor. On one of my be-like-Pink Goodwill sprees I found this organizer basket.

It didn't do much for me as an actual desk organizer but I thought it had potential for other uses. I glued some of the fabulous ribbon you sent me on the bottom and threw in scraps from my Christmas tree and other stuff from my yard. (Do you always take your cuttings from the Tree Lot? We usually get our tree at Lowes and I raid the clippings pile. I love FREE! I use it all over my house.)  Then I used flat thumbtacks to attached the ribbon to the top edge of the door and let it hang.

Turned out pretty cute I think. It might need the metal hanging ornament from your front door decor but I'm pretty proud of it because it only cost me $1.99! I think I am going to use it alot just changing out the ribbon and what I stuff inside. I am look forward to that fact that I can color block it with different flowers in each section in the spring.

Any ideas of other stuff to put in it later?

Holiday Door - Christmas 2008

Dear Think::

While I am sure it is difficult to think of decorating after a wonderful vacation in the warm sun and beach(sigh), Have you made your door festive yet?  I can't wait to see what you do.

I made mine this weekend.  Pretty much my same old thing.  I took my Halloween wreath, smashed it up a bit to give it a new shape.  I tried square but it didn't work.  Don't you think square wreaths are the best.

I hung in my cranberry wreath.  I then added, in a total haphazard fashion, I might add. These holiday sprigs that I got at the dollar store. Oh yes you read that right. 100 pennies.  These holiday sprig things can be pricey.  Each sprig came with two.  I love the Williamsburg look of decorating and until I can afford to use real fruit my fake crystallized apples will have to do.


I then hung on my monogrammed silk scarf and this cool...

silver door hanger I have had forever but never know what to do with it.

I love it.  It is busy, kind of gaudy and just a tad bit me.  What is so funny is that if you look at photo number one, that to me looks kind of bare, that seems just like what you would end up with. Don't you love how different we are but such great buddies.

Dear Think::

My fingers are burned and have strings of glue all over them.  Me and the girls (or should that be the girls and I) made cranberry wreaths this weekend.  Our friend Paige taught me how to make these in Tennessee and I will be forever grateful.   I love making them every Thanksgiving weekend.

I bought the foam wreaths this year at the Dollar $tore (score).  They can be kind of pricey, but since you are so good at keeping track of your 40% off coupon at Michaels you will get one cheap too.

You cover the wreath or even foam ball (makes a great kissing ball) with black trash bag strips.  Just glue the edges down.

Then just start gluing on the fresh cranberries, one at a time.  I like to put the glue on the cranberry and then put it on the wreath.  You can also put the glue on the wreath first.  The beauty of this project is that there is no fast way to do it.  No short cuts.  Just glue and stick, glue and stick, glue and stick.  It makes me slow down and just sit with the girls and chat.

I also discovered the glue sticks that are not as hot, so blisters are fewer now.

 Too bad now I can't hang it outside because of the squirrel situation.
 (they eat all my holiday outside decor)

Let me know if you have any great ideas of things that you can glue on a wreath over and over and over again.  (Wreath takes at least 2 bags of cranberries)

My Halloween Door

Dear Think,

I love this idea of sharing our Holiday Doors.  Yours is so you and mine is so me. 
I also bought a grapevine wreath at Michaels (no coupon of course - I can never keep track of them)
It was a round wreath and I mushed and smashed it into an oval.  I am such a craft rebel.
I then bought some berry wreath like thing they had tied it in the middle with brown ribbon.
I bought their $2.99 metal sign that said "Yikes" and tied that on with this cool pinkish (shocker) orange ribbon.
Can't wait to see what you come up with for Thanksgiving.
