Pink :: Have you ever heard of this holiday?
I have seen images of it over the years and always dreamed of being there. Holi is a spring festival celebrated by Hindus, Buddhists and others. They burn a bonfire the day before. Then they throw colored powders and colored waters at each other in a Festival of Colors. Sort of an artistic water balloon fight. How fun does that sound? I mean look at those colors!!!
These are images I found on flickr that I was allowed to use on this blog using creative commons but you really need to go check out all the other copyrighted images. Amazing. Beautiful. Dreamy. Stunning. It's like a giant human Jackson Pollock painting. (Click here to see what i mean...)
So this year, March 1st, is Holi and I felt like I wanted to celebrate it somehow. But it's a little hard when its still 30 degrees outside with snow everywhere. So I'm bringing it indoors for Little Think. Going to make some body paints for her bath tonight and let her go to town with them.
Found a "recipe" for kids body paint somewhere online years ago using Baby Shampoo and non-toxic powdered tempura paint mixed together. It said to mix a little powder in the shampoo until you get a nice bright medium color. You don't want to go too dark. It should wash up easy and leave me a very clean little girl who for once got soap on all her body parts.
Happy Coloring! :: Think
