Pink :: I know it's not very Easter-y

But it works! And that makes me very "hoppy".  Ha!

Kind of gross to use so wear gloves but I like it better than pouring tons of $$$ chemicals down the drain every few months. I laughed at the hanger hook thingy they have with it. Like I want that hanging anywhere in my house where I have to look at it! Got mine at Bed Bath & Beyond for $9.99 and I think it's at other stores so don't buy it online and pay shipping.

I know.... a lame post. But at least I'm posting something, right? That should tell you about my life these days....I've got a Clever Clog in my brain. Got anything to turbo snake that out with?

You know I love, love Etsy. I look at everyday.  So this news was exciting for me, so I had to share. 

PicClick has a Etsy browser - truly eye candy. 

You can search up at the top and watch the things you love most come together.  The above shot is taken of my search, Pink::Vintage::ribbon.

It is actually kind of fun to think of new searches and see what the screen shot looks like.

This would make a darling card to print out and give to your friend on their birthday.  Here is one for you.

Cleverly Going Green

Think ::

I am so not green.  In skin tone or environmentally.  I am not proud of it and I am working on it.  I guess I better be, I am moving to Colorado for crying out loud.  I think I may have to take some community classes before they let me move in my neighborhood.  (hey guess what? I think we may have found a house... more to come, don't want to jinx it)

With it being St. Patrick's Day and all I thought I would share something green, both in color and  for the environment.

I purchased this Scout "Bin There" because they were on sale and everyone cool in my neighborhood has one.  They keep them in their trunks and put things in it to take into their house.  Only the lucky few have a garage that is connected to their house and they are all in the back here so there is a lot of street parking.  My garage is now full of craigslist finds that need to be painted, so my car is also now on the street until we move.  (ask Mr. Pink how happy he is about that, not so much)

Anyway tonight I was "Making Groceries" (that is what they call going grocery shopping in New Orleans, I can say that because I lived there) and purchasing all the green items for the lunches on Wednesday.  I decided to just carry my "bin there" with me and just put it in my cart.  Our grocery store has a personal scanner that you carry around and scan your own food and bag as you shop.  It is awesome, but puts baggers and checkers out of a job.  So, 
as I shopped I just filled in my cute, damask, green, printed bin and saved on a ton of bags.  So yea, I am getting Green.  Just in time for the holiday.

Do you remember me telling you about my trip to Chicago a few years ago? And how I was in the Paper Source and met a new friend.  We were kind of like soul mates.  We are totally different but totally the same.  She is an amazing photographer by hobby and a brilliant lawyer by trade.  I want to be a photographer but have no skills and respect anyone who could study enough to make it through law school. She walked me around the store and showed me all of her favorite products, then we walked down the cute streets of Chicago.

Anyway she is a great eavesdropper of 2clever and emailed me tonight to tell me she got a new iphone.  Yea Nora!  I thought I would share some of my favorite new apps in honor of my creative, smart friend in Chicago.

• Weatherbug elite.  I can check the weather every hour and see live video at different locations in my town.  I am a new weather addict. It even made to my first page on my phone.
• Field Goal - My new favorite game to play while waiting in line.  The kids love it.
• Burger Time - remember that video game when we were kids.  Oh it was my favorite
• I loved your suggestion of the NBC Olympics app.  Since we don't have t.v. this was the only way I kept up with the Olympics.
• Chipotle - Since I eat there once a week this is the easiest way to order and run in and pick it up.
• Trulia - this has been a lifesaver while driving around Colorado looking for houses

Liberty of London has teamed up with Target!

Yes siree.

On March 14th an array of items will be sold at Target (some of the best like the bike will be online only) in the many prints of Liberty of London fabric.

Do you remember when we used to drool over the fabrics at the sewing shop in Nashville with our famous jewelery designer friend?  (well she was really your friend but she is too cool for me not to claim as well) They were $24.00 a yard and felt like butter. 

I made that one little dress, for my now 11 year old pink, out of $1.00 a yard fabric at walmart but bought a 1/8 of yard Liberty of London fabric to hand make the piping.  It was all I could afford.  I still have the left over scraps because it was so expensive.  In the morning I will take a photo of the dress and put it on here.

Anyway, throw out all financial practical advice from Mr. Think out the window.  If you see something you like, buy it!  It won't last long.  Oh the clock is ticking for March 14th!

Sorry I messed up your "reality post" by actually changing the banner from May to July. I laughed when I saw what I had done.

So.....I've had the Swine Flu.

Yeah. Not fun.
But a pretty good excuse for not posting for awhile, right?

(In case you can't tell I'm wearing Little Think's pig mask in this glamorous photo of me in my glasses, bed head, and no beauty products of any kind. there's some real reality for ya.)

It's not an official diagnosis but once I had missed the initial 48 hours of when they could give me something to help I decided I really didn't want to know if it was the Swine Flu or not. Figured it would just freak me out since I felt like I was dying all last week as it was. But research after the worst had passed has made me pretty sure that is what it was. Now all I have left is a horrible hacking cough and exhaustion if I try to do anything of worth. Which is hard since we leave the end of this week for Hilton Head with Mr. Think's family. Guess I'll have an excuse to just anti-socially lay around the beach and read a book. (I need suggestions for a good beach book by the way)

If I get time tonight I will try and post my favorite July 4th tradition. And maybe make the computer wallpaper for July. No promises. I'm fading fast.

But in the midst of feeling lousy I did have something happen that made me feel like I was maybe a little bit 2 Clever.

Over two years ago I did some baby announcements for my friend Amy's first baby, James. I came up with an idea but it required a TON of hand work to put them together. She, being a new mom and everything, was willing to help put them together and pay the extra postage to mail them out. 5 punched circles connected by metal jump rings hung on a ribbon in a metal tin with label. A few months later, Parents Magazine was having a handmade announcements contest and she sent one in. Just over a month ago they called to tell her that it had been selected for the article and we won $100! Kinda fun to see it in print. I just finished ones for her new daughter. I'll post a photo of it when I get back.

Yesterday was a sad day.  My littlest pink who is the only one in the family with blonde hair and curls got in big trouble and had to spend 3 minutes alone in her room.  During that three minutes she did this

she cut her curls and filled the trash can with her lock of gold. 

I was surprisingly not as angry as might think.  But she now look s a lot Joe Dirt.


 

The funny part of this story is that I had been trying to come up with a clever way to share with you this new company started by two moms.  I have many of their headbands and hair clips.  (I love them because they actually stay in!) These flower clips are my new best friend helping me keep my sweet little 4 year old girl from looking like a 4 year old boy.

Best Camp Ever

I just signed up my oldest Pink for Camp.  Free Mac Camp.  Does it get any better than this? No bug spray needed. 

She will learn how to make presentations, make movies (I think she already has imovie down, but it will be good for her) and sharpen her Mac skills.  She is only 10 but pretty much has mastered most of the programs on our mac - the beauty of Mac's they are so kid friendly.

I think your little think is too young, but in a few years you won't want to miss this.

What it is June?? How did that happen?
I am thrilled that there is only 9 days left of school for two reasons.  One because it is almost over but also glad I have 9 days to do all my last minute end of the year surprises for the teachers and staff.  I am a huge fan of celebrating those working in education.

So, here is my exciting news for the day.  I got the most awesome bit of Good Mail today.  See my necklace above.

A friend saw this photo that our friend Jill had taken recently and had it made into a necklace for me. The sign was obviously for the plants and grass but it sure does apply to most humans too.

Grocery Blaster

Hi girl.  My grocery store is getting a serious makeover. The are staying open while they continue to remodel the entire store.  The bad news is that everything is on a new shelf every week but the good news is that we are getting in a lot of new and different products that I have not seen before.  Like this Batter Blaster.  It is pancake batter in a spray can.  This would be so perfect for camping!  It was $5.99 a can and buying cool things to write about on our blog just to try them are NOT in Mr. Pink's budget plan for me - so I opted for a photo (yea iPhone)  But I do love promoting new ideas and products so give them some love and check out their website and darling jingle.

I also was thrilled to finally come up with the idea to grow my own cilantro.  I am constantly running to the store to just buy cilantro since we make this yummy rice recipe  every week!  It is straight from the Shenandoah Valley!  (the cilantro not the recipe)

Here is the rice recipe.

3 c water
4 t chicken bouillon
4 t garlic –minced
½ bunch cilantro
1 can green chilies—or equivalent fresh
¾ t salt
1 T butter
½ onion
3 c rice

Blend cilantro, green chilies and onion together in food processor. Bring water to a boil and add all ingredients, simmer covered 30 minutes.

Mr. Think even noticed it on the desk and looked through it admiringly.

What do you "Think" about my new dresses I got for the littles the other day at Tar'je?  The good news - bad news is that they all are almost grown out of the darling kids sizes but now I can buy 3 of matching in the bigger sizes.  For only $14.99 a dress buying 3 didn't sting as much as usual.  They are smocked in the front and anytime I can get my 10 year old in even 3" of smocking I am stoked!
Seriously go now if you want one, they won't last long.

Clever Zippers

Dear Pink :: I wish I had thought of this

My sister-in-law sent me the most clever purse for Christmas. It is called a Zip It. It is one long zipper that turns into a purse when you zip it up. Straps and everything. Seriously amazing. Not sure what I will put in it because I will be wanting to show people how it works all the time. Ha!
